Home to the Coast

The count down begins...

overcast -26 °C

nancy_s_036.jpgWell......after 5 years in the Arctic, exposed to unmentionable weather, swarms of mosquitoes, and isolated conditions, the decision to leave Kuujjuaq was ironically a reluctant one. I say this because despite the insanity of living above the 55th parallel, there always existed a sense of belonging, of being at the right place at the right time and so I walk away completely satisfied and completely ready for the next chapter of my so-far, very random life.

And this new chapter? Well the short version is that I will spend 8 days with my family in the beautiful and snowy but cold Gaspésie after which I will board a series of planes finally landing my travel-itchy feet in the hot gorgeous sand of the Caribbean!

For the next 6 weeks I will wander aimlessly among the eastern islands, just me and my trusty back-pack. The last 2 weeks of this...let's call it a vacation...will be spent in Jamaica with my wonderfully patient boyfriend Alain, who is still beating his drum to a Northern tune.

This travel blog is my way of keeping in touch with all of you. I will try my best to write and post photos that depict what I see and experience during this journey. Bare with me....it won't be easy to sit in front of a computer while the beach is just on the other side of the wall!

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Nancy
